Why two people take the same ingredients and get completely different results.

The Training Balance Scale and Its Role in Supplementation

By Rossella Pruneti

The Training Balance Scale is essential for understanding why the same supplement can create radically different outcomes in different individuals. The principle states that results are driven 95% by the internal image, beliefs, and expectations of the individual, and only 5% by external actions—including supplementation.

Biochemically, every molecule acts within a neuro-endocrine environment that is shaped by mindset: stress perception, motivational state, attentional focus, sleep quality, and behavioral consistency all modulate the pathways that supplements attempt to influence. In this sense, the way you think about a molecule is often more important than the molecule’s intrinsic action. Expectations shape hormonal tone, neurotransmitter balance, and recovery signals, effectively priming the body to respond—or not respond—to supplementation. Thus, supplements do not operate in isolation: they amplify the direction already encoded in the athlete’s self-image, making the Training Balance Scale not just a mind–body connection but the governing framework through which supplementation expresses its full potential.

While the mind–body connection says:

“Thoughts influence the body”,

the Training Balance Scale says:

“Thoughts determine 95% of your results. Actions only determine 5%. And even those actions are chosen and shaped by your dominant thoughts.”

The body (and even biochemistry) follows the instruction set held in the mind. This tells you why people use the same supplement or training program but get radically different results, making some molecules work like magic for some and do nothing for others.

In essence, mindful mastery of supplements involves a thoughtful approach that integrates personal health goals, education, and responsible usage. By navigating the mind-body connection with care, you can harness the power of supplements to support health and well-being.

The Training Balance Scale is far more specific and radical than the general idea of a mind–body connection.

The mind–body connection says:
“Thoughts influence the body.”

The Training Balance Scale says:
Thoughts determine 95% of your results. Actions only determine 5%.
And even those actions are chosen and shaped by your dominant thoughts.”

So while it includes the mind–body connection, it goes deeper and becomes almost a mind–reality regulator:

  • It tells you where results truly come from (your internal image, not your external labor).
  • It tells you that the body (and even biochemistry) follows the instruction set held in the mind.
  • It tells you why people use the same supplement or training program but get radically different results.
  • It tells you that intention is the architect, and execution only the bricklayer.

In that sense, yes—it includes the mind–body connection.
But it is not equal to it.

The Training Balance Scale is a hierarchy, not a connection:

Mind → sets the pattern
Body → carries out the instruction

How the Training Balance Scale Governs Supplementation

Most people think supplements work from the outside in:
“Take creatine → build muscle.”
“Take omega-3 → reduce inflammation.”
“Take a pre-workout → get energy.”

But the Training Balance Scale flips this upside down.
It says that 95% of your results come from your dominant thoughts, images, and inner identity, and only 5% from actions and tools—including supplements.

This means:

  • The supplement’s biochemical action is only the 5%.
  • The environment inside you—mindset, expectation, identity, belief—is the 95%.
  • Molecules don’t act in a vacuum; they act inside a mental-biological field you create.

So the real mechanism becomes:

Identity → Perception → Behavior → Biochemistry → Result

If your self-image says:
“I am someone who responds fast, who grows, who recovers well,”
your nervous system, hormones, motivation, and biochemical terrain shift to match that image…
and the supplement’s action is amplified.

If your internal script is:
“Nothing works for me,”
your body downregulates the same biochemical pathways that the supplement tries to activate.

This is why two athletes use:

  • the same protein
  • the same creatine
  • the same fat burner

…and one transforms while the other sees almost nothing.

Because supplements do not override identity.
They respond to it.

The Scale Applied to Real Molecules

Creatine works better in people who believe they are strong and becoming stronger.
Why?
Because intention affects neural recruitment, effort, and recovery—amplifying creatine’s 5%.

Fat burners are dramatically more effective when the inner identity matches the goal:
“I’m someone who becomes lean,”
versus
“I always struggle with fat.”

Recovery supplements (omega-3, magnesium, peptides) work almost magically
when the person expects to recover rapidly and believes they deserve performance.

Expectation shifts cortisol, inflammation, sleep quality, and tissue repair.

The molecule is the tool.
The identity is the architect.

The Rule of Supplementation Under the Training Balance Scale

Change the self-image → the supplements begin to work.
Leave the self-image untouched → the supplements remain weak.

This is why the Training Balance Scale is not just a mind–body connection;
it is the operating system that determines how every molecule behaves inside you.
